About Al Jayoosi Clan

Al Jayoosi or Jayyusi is a prominent Palestinian clan, its members acted as rural lords and landowning tax collectors for centuries, and are the only inhabitants of the throne village of Fort Kur (located in the middle of Nablus, Tulkarem and Qalqilia triangle). The Jayoosis (or Jayaysa in Arabic) are known to have existed in the 12th century under Mamluk rule, and are said to be descendants of Mamluk generals.
